The Black Explosion is the University of Maryland’s first and only Black student newspaper. Established in 1970, the Black Explosion works to conduct reporting on Black campus life, issues, and students. We hire students from all disciplines and all backgrounds to work on our incredible staff! You do not have to be a journalism student to apply!! We’re looking for individuals with strong digital media, social media, writing, or business skills.
Requirements • Desire to support news coverage of the University of Maryland, College Park community • Interested in covering the University of Maryland’s Black and African student diasporas • Able to attend weekly all staff meetings (Thursday’s @ 6:30 p.m. in Knight Hall, Gaylord Library) • Show a strong ability to collaborate with staff across the newsroom
